This position, reporting to the Coordinator of Labour Relations, requires you to actively engage with the union’s process by having a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in grievance handling and union engagement. You will guide stewards in navigating collective agreements and represent the union at third-party hearings while facilitating campaigns that promote member welfare. Your strategic approach will drive social and economic improvements for BCNU members.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and enforce collective agreement provisions
- Advise on labour legislation and union policies
- Initiate and resolve grievances effectively
- Represent at arbitration and labour board hearings
- Conduct votes and prepare for provincial negotiations
Requirements
- 3-5 years of steward experience in labour relations
- Degree in a relevant field, like Social Sciences
- Excellent negotiation and interpretation skills
- Proficient communication with diverse stakeholders
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel
