Role Overview:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager, and as a member of the Finance team, your primary responsibilities will include Retail & Hospitality accounting, assisting in the month-end close process and supporting the Finance team with timely and accurate reporting.

This role is also responsible for:

  • Perform month-end processes and prepare monthly working papers and reconciliations of specific accounts
  • Perform daily and month end reconciliations of Hospitality activity including reconciliation of revenue, labour and other operational costs, across all Hospitality areas including winery restaurants
  • Perform accounting tasks for reconciliation of winery concerts, private events, and other wine club events
  • Provide support and backup for daily processing of revenue from Retail operations
  • Perform daily and month end reconciliations of Hospitality activity including reconciliation of revenue, labour and other operational costs, across all Hospitality areas including both winery restaurants
  • Support for Finance team on regular budgeting, reporting and analytical tasks
  • Analyze general ledger accounts
  • Support inventory processes: investigate variances, and improve reporting and/or process flows
  • Assist in monthly and year-end management/audit queries
  • Maintain procedural documentation as appropriate; create SOP's for key processes
  • Seek to optimize process that will improve the efficiency of the role and department
  • Support analysis related to cost, volume, profit
  • Ad-hoc projects as required


Requirements:

  • 2-5 years progressive accounting experience
  • Working towards, or completion of, a recognized professional accounting program
  • Advanced knowledge of legacy ERP systems
  • Familiarity with BI reporting tools like Qlikview, Oracle BI, Cognos, etc.
  • An organized and analytical accountant with genuine attention to detail
  • A team player who is eager to learn and able to switch gears and work on multiple priorities
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and the ability to connect the dots and follow data flow in various financial information systems.
  • Desire to learn with an elevated curiosity to problem solve
  • Excellent communication skills and a positive attitude
  • Experience partnering and collaborating with staff across the business
  • Able to keep the number's simple and be able to train managers to better understand their financials
  • Experience with a producer/distributor of beverage products would be considered an asset.

  • CPA preferred
