What is the opportunity?

Based in Vancouver, the Structural Project Engineer - Existing Buildings is responsible for delivering projects in structural restoration, seismic assessment/upgrade and other structural special projects at Entuitive. This entails leveraging technical expertise and working closely with the other service groups in the firm to ensure consistent, consolidated, and leading-edge service delivery.

ENTUITIVE would like to supplement Vancouver structural team with a self-motivated individual, and a desire to work in a collaborative team environment. Entuitive's current projects span the repair and restoration of existing buildings and the design and construction of new buildings. Our project portfolio is diverse and exciting - from commercial and residential skyscrapers to hospitals to opera houses to transit infrastructure - across Canada, the United States. What will you do?
  • Execution of structural projects and act as Engineer of Record within the realm of existing buildings from conceptual design to final completion:
Perform site assessments and prepare evaluation reports Perform designs and prepare contract drawings and specifications Review work in field and provide reports Write and administer construction contracts
  • Type of projects will include:
Restoration, remediation and retrofit of existing buildings Renovations and tenant improvements Seismic assessment and upgrade of building Seismic restrains of components Structural small projects / modifications
Project Management Capabilities
  • Manage projects and clients from investigation/conceptual design to final completion
  • Deliver projects ensuring profitably with a high quality of deliverables.
  • Deal with commercial issues related to project management including fee negotiation, consulting contracts, invoicing and collections.
  • Create and monitor project budgets.

What do you need to succeed?
  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in civil / structural engineering
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience relevant to the role in Metro Vancouver and/or Greater Victoria areas.
  • P.Eng. or eligible to register in BC
  • Ability to work independently
  • Have a working knowledge on current and previous versions of Building Codes, By-Laws and building material codes.
  • Must have a working knowledge and ability to use programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel and Bluebeam (or another PDF mark-up tool).
  • Must have technical skills in CAD and/or REVIT.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong background in the field of existing buildings including current and leading-edge knowledge of materials and processes.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage scope, schedule and budget.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
  • Having experience in Construction Engineering (temporary works) is an asset.
  • Having experience in or exposure to multiple building materials (wood, structural steel, masonry, concrete, and cold-formed steel) in terms of design, evaluation, and/or remediation is considered an asset.
