Candidate Specification

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering/Science (preferably Software/Engineering Physics/Systems Engineering).
  • P.Eng in BC or Ontario, or able to register
  • 6 - 10 years of progressive experience in Systems Integration with significant experience in rail and transit projects.
  • Demonstrable strength in a minimum of two of the following:
    • Systems Architecting
    • Requirements Engineering
    • Integration and Interface Management
    • Verification and Validation
    • Reliability, Availability and Maintainability (RAM) analysis
    • IEC 15288: 2015
  • Working knowledge of the remainder
  • Well developed technical writing and verbal communications skills, with the ability to communicate complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience defining and directing systems integration testing activities to meet verification and validation requirements
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to plan, lead and document technical meetings and conversations with clients, contractors, suppliers and regulators
  • Proven ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  • Able to interface with domain specialists, design managers and construction project managers, in a competent professional manner.
  • Able to identify, analyze and mitigate interface and interoperability risks from both a safety and program management perspective
  • Broad experience of delivery within major infrastructure projects.
  • Knowledge of railway systems and / or operation within infrastructure projects / technology development and implementation projects.
  • Proactively seeking to enhance personal and professional development

Job Description

Mott MacDonald Canada is currently involved in several major infrastructure projects in the rail and transit realms. We are currently seeking Systems Integration Engineers to complement our team and assist with rail system and infrastructure assignments for public and private-sector clients.

You will have the opportunity to work for Canadian clients such as Translink, Metrolinx and TTC as well as supporting capital projects in other geographic locations including the United States, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand tapping into the expertise of our global practices.

In light of this, our Rail Systems Practice is looking for Systems Integration Engineers, reporting to the Systems Engineering Lead, to join our growing team in Vancouver and Toronto. To perform this role successfully, the individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
  • Working with other Systems Engineering team members and with multi-discipline project staff on the delivery of key Systems Integration processes and practices within MM's North American practices.
  • Lead the Systems Integration elements of bids and projects within Mott MacDonald Canada, including system architecting, requirements development, use cases and configuration management.
  • Work with key delivery partners and service providers for projects.
  • Integration of Rail Systems into overall light rail, urban transit and heavy rail projects.
  • Support of construction activities from the office and in the field
  • Assist in the commissioning and setting to work of Rail Control systems
  • Interaction with, and direct support to colleagues across Mott MacDonald
  • Develop and work with key delivery partners and service providers for projects
  • Engage with end clients as and when necessary
