About the Team
The Workday Financials Application Development team will be delivering a new generation of SaaS solutions designed to meet the needs of today's global businesses, built using the most modern technologies and development methodologies, providing an unparalleled level of agility, ease-of-use, and integration capability.

About the Role

As a Software Application Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tackle complex problems, which comes with developing and delivering global mission critical enterprise software using your expertise in design, coding, algorithms, and complexity analysis. Your primary focus will be to:

  • Analyze, design, program, debug, and modify software enhancements
  • Take initiative, exhibit creative-thinking, have the drive to turn ideas into reality, and have a passion for user experience
  • Solve challenging problems in an application related to performance, scalability, and resilience
  • Design and develop an object-oriented product in a metadata-driven development environment
  • Write and maintain solid, robust, efficient and maintainable code using an object-oriented framework and tools
  • Write reliable unit, integration, and system level tests that will run on our CD pipeline.
  • Mentor and learn from other team members through pairing, code reviews, knowledge sharing, Hackathons, etc.

Our Workday Financials Application Development team has multiple openings at various levels on this team responsible for building the following product:
  • Financials Accounts Payable - is in the center of it all and has touch points with nearly all other financial applications teams. The team handles features to create and manage invoices that record purchase events and create liability.
  • Analytics and Reporting- All the financial, workforce, and operational data in one secure place to determine financial insights.
  • Financial Planning - Combine budgeting, planning, and forecasting with financial and workforce transactions and analytics, making it possible to create more efficient, collaborative, and valuable financial plans.
  • Accounting and Finance- Provide deep finance and accounting capabilities, real-time business insight, and always-on audit and internal controls.
  • Consolidate and Close- Automate the reconciliation, consolidation, reporting, and close process so everything is done accurately in one system.
  • Revenue Management- Manage contracts, billing, collection, accounting, and analytics all from a single system.
  • Accounting Center- Built on an analytics engine, it ingests, enriches and transforms operational transactions into accounting. Quickly turn data into insight, gain visibility and control over data, and bring greater efficiency to finance processes.
  • Expenses - Capture, submit, and approve expense reports with automated expense reporting
  • Projects- Plan, staff, manage, budget, forecast, bill, and analyze projects.
  • Grants Management- Manage grant activity while providing gain deep insight and control to stay compliant.
  • Audit and Internal Controls- the ability to implement internal controls and enable proactive auditing and compliance is built into the system. It goes beyond compliance to improve business performance by implementing cost-effective audit controls.
  • Global Foundation- Provides accurate and auditable information, process standardization, and true global visibility to meet broad international rules and unique requirements.

About You

Junior 2-3 years, Mid-level 4-8 years, Senior 8+ years of experience with the following qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Experience in delivering web applications, SaaS (Software as a Service) or web services
  • Object-oriented (OO) design and development experience in an object-oriented language such as Java, C#, XpressO, etc.
  • Experience with unit testing tools like JUnit and/or other test-driven development tools.
  • Experience with object-oriented design patterns, class modeling, and XML technology

Other Qualifications:
  • Experience in building large scale enterprise business application (in the area of Financials is preferred)
  • Metadata-driven definitional development experience.
  • Experience with integration technologies and agile methodologies.
