Location: Vancouver office (768 Seymour St) with remote work possibility
Location: Calgary office (622 1 St SW) with remote work possibility
Location: Edmonton office (10020 100 St NW) with remote work possibility
Hours of Operation: Monday to Friday from 6:30 am- 4:30 pm
Status: Temporary Full-Time (end date August 31, 2023)

Our team and what we'll accomplish together

We are looking for an energetic and experienced Cash Applications Specialist to join our finance team. As part of our team, you reconcile account receivables and post payments reconciliation. You will create monthly reports for relevant stakeholders and management, observing all relevant regulations. Our ideal candidate is a motivated problem-solver who can collaborate effectively on larger teams and possesses accurate data entry skills and an eye for detail.

What you'll do

You will provide financial administrative support and act as a resource to others related to client payment processing in accordance with procedures, standards and practices for the 2 TELUS Security Branches: Prices Alarms and TCSS (TELUS Custom Security Services).

  • Prepare, maintain and update documents and reports
  • Receive, review and process payments requiring special treatment (i.e. Federal and Provincial Governments, large corporations, sensitive customers, etc.)
  • Investigate, balance and resolve discrepancies/anomalies
  • Sort, distribute and check work of others and release adjustments as required
  • Train and provide guidance/assistance to team members while maintaining training and reference materials
  • Receive, verify and process payments making required adjustments when necessary and transferring/inputting into general ledger or appropriate account
  • Manually review all remittance from customers or clients, and match the payments to the appropriate invoices to make sure payment has been received
  • Ensure payments are transferred and applied to correct TELUS entity (Intercompany Transactions)
  • Maintaining the Daily Banking Reconciliation
  • Running the Pre-Authorization Payments processes for Banking and Credit Cards Scheduled Payments on Sedona and Sage 300 Billing systems
  • Working on Payments investigations inquiries received from Customers
  • Address payment issues like double payments or other discrepancies


What you bring:

  • Knowledge of accounting knowledge related to client payment processing procedures and standards (accounting and math skills)
  • Prior experience in accounts receivable and cash applications
  • Knowledge of common business software applications
  • Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively compile information, analyze data & make sound judgements
  • Knowledge of accounting principles & procedures
  • Working knowledge MS Office suites (eg. Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Demonstrated professional oral and written communications skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated, work well with minimal or no direct supervision
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaboratively with other departments
  • Demonstrated ability to identify problems and situations, take appropriate action, implement solutions or escalate as required
  • Maintain a high level of performance under the pressure of time constraints and a fast-paced changing environment
  • Demonstrated ability in planning and organizing to meet scheduled deadlines
  • Ability to multitask and manage time through multiple deadlines


  • Knowledge of SAGE 300 Cash Application and Billing modules (for TCSS)
  • Knowledge of Sedona Cash Application and Billing modules (for Prices Alarms)
  • Knowledge of our Credit Card Vendor portal: Moneris (for TCSS)
  • Knowledge of the TELUS MPREQ tool (My Payment Request TELUS tool)
