Estimating Manager NEW

The Estimating Manager will lead our estimating team in preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mining construction estimating, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and proposals simultaneously at Vicuna Corp.

Responsible for analyzing costs and preparing estimates on civil engineering, architectural, structural, electrical, and mechanical construction projects. Experience in commercial and industrial, mining, and construction with strong math knowledge, organized, analytical, writing, and good communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Estimate costs of materials, labour, and equipment for projects based on contract bids, quotes, schematic drawings, and specifications
• Oversee bid strategy, risk assessment, and value engineering efforts.
• Advise on tendering procedures, examine and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations
• Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts for a project
• Prepare and maintain a list of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors
• Liaise, consult, and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors, and prepare estimates on changes to cost estimates
• Implement and maintain estimating software and tools.
• Train and mentor junior estimators and support staff.
• May manage and coordinate construction projects and prepare progress schedules
• Prepares special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
• Maintains cost database by entering and backing up data.
• Continually updates technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing technical publications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Civil Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction estimating, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.
• Fluency in Spanish is required.
• Strong knowledge of construction means, methods, and materials.
• Proficiency in estimating software
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Working knowledge of Excel spreadsheets and word processing programs
• Understanding of construction documents
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints
• Ability to coordinate and work independently
• Knowledge of CAD software
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
