Mechanical Estimator

As a Mechanical Estimator, you’ll play a key role in preparing accurate and competitive bids, leading estimating efforts, and collaborating with project teams from tender through award.

Key Responsibilities

• Review drawings and specifications to define project scope and identify potential risks.
• Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs, labour, and material cost estimates.
• Issue and evaluate RFQs for subcontractors and suppliers.
• Collaborate with project managers and leadership to align estimates with company goals.
• Participate in handoff and review meetings to support continuous improvement.
• Recommend value-engineering strategies that enhance efficiency and cost savings.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in mechanical estimating or a combined estimating/project management role.
• Strong understanding of large-scale commercial, institutional, or residential construction projects.
• Proficient with Trimble Accubid and Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam, Revit, or AutoCAD is an asset.
• Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Red Seal Plumbing or HVAC certification considered an asset.
• Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
