Electrical Design Engineer – 120-150k

About the Role

We’re looking for a talented and experienced Electrical Design Engineer to lead and support the design and execution of complex electrical systems. In this role, you’ll focus on creating innovative designs for industrial or hydroelectric projects. You’ll collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality designs are delivered on time and within budget while meeting client expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and developing electrical systems, including modifications or entirely new systems, for industrial or hydroelectric projects.
• Preparing and reviewing engineering drawings, technical specifications, and reports.
• Conducting site investigations, condition assessments, and providing construction support throughout the project lifecycle.
• Ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards, including the Canadian Electrical Code and Building Code.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to achieve seamless integration of electrical designs within larger projects.
• Supporting the preparation of proposals and cost estimates for various projects.
• Mentoring junior staff and sharing expertise to support team growth and development.

About You

We’re seeking an individual with strong technical skills, creativity, and a passion for delivering high-quality designs. Ideal qualifications include:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university (a postgraduate degree is an asset).
• Experience:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on industrial and hydroelectric projects.
• Demonstrated experience in site investigations, condition assessments, and construction support.
• Experience with power distribution systems up to MV level.
• Knowledge of building systems, industrial controls, or hydroelectric stations is an asset.
• Professional Registration: Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with EGBC. Registration in other Canadian provinces is an additional asset.
• Technical Expertise:
• Proficiency in designing to meet Canadian Electrical Code and other relevant standards.
• Experience working on multidisciplinary projects.
• Soft Skills:
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Additional Requirements:
• Willingness to travel to project sites when required.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to pass security clearance checks.

Compensation

Base salary – 120-150k, 4 weeks vacation, 5% pension matching, great benefits.
